According to G-CO 12, students should be able to make constructions with a variety of tools- including dynamic geometric software, compass and straightedge, reflective devices, and paper folding. Is it the intent that students be proficient in all of these methods for geometric constructions? I am concerned that, if I am to teach constructions with an understanding of the math behind the procedures, I will run out of time to teach multiple tools. An additional question, I am concerned about having technology resources available available for students. Is it a “requirement” that all students know how to use dynamic geometry software? Thanks for you guidance!

The list is intended to suggest various possibilities, not a comprehensive list of requirements. Different situations will call for different tools, and different pedagogies and curricula will have their own preferences. Technology, for example, is neither required nor forbidden.
