Bill Bush is leading a project to develop three tools that will help teachers and school administrators analyze curriculum materials as they implement the Standards. One looks at the treatment of key content areas in each of four grade bands (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–12); one analyzes how well the standards for mathematical practice are integrated into the materials; and one analyzes pedagogical aspects of the materials. The project is funded by the Brookhill Foundation and Texas Instruments, and plans to release the tools in June 2011.
We are searching for resources where others have at least begun to align the CCSS to traditional (California) Algebra 2 and/or Advanced Algebra courses, and other courses. Similarly, it would be fantastic to see a draft of a deconstruction of the HS CCSS, for similar alignment work purposes. I imagine publishers have done such deconstructing.
Debra, shouldn’t it be the other way around? That is, align the courses to the standards? Anyway, I assume you’ve looked at Appendix A of the standards document, available at corestandards.org, which describes courses. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. I don’t think I understand what you mean by deconstructing the standards, but I’ll post any resources that might be relevant as they come my way.
